Group 3 began production in the second half of 1910 at the conclusion group 2. When this group first went into production, it expanded the set by 60 new major-league subjects. The correction of the Joe Doyle error and later team changes for Red Kleinow and Frank Smith bring the total checklist to 63 cards.

Though this group was the beginning of the set's expansion into the 460 Series, the first printings of group 3 were with 350 Series back advertisements. These included Piedmont 350, Sweet Caporal 350, Sovereign 350 (Apple Green), American Beauty 350 (No Frame) and Drum 350. Also at this time, group 3 was printed with the assorted-brand backs El Principe De Gales, Old Mill (BBS), Tolstoi and Polar Bear. This is confirmed by the inclusion of Joe Doyle (N.Y.), Simon Nichols (Batting) and Bob Rhoades (Right Arm Extended), all of which were discontinued prior to the 460 Series and can be found only with 350 Series backs.

In late 1910 or early 1911 the 350 Series printing was concluded. As the group 3 transition to the 460 series began, group 4 was added to production, completing the expansion of the set from 350 to 460 subjects. This brought the total number of subjects available for printing at this time to 109, including the six super prints. For the production of the 460 Series any print run including group 3 was combined with group 4 and/or the super prints group. All or a portion were printed with Piedmont 350-460, Sweet Caporal 350-460, American Beauty 460, Broad Leaf 460 and Cycle 460. Print runs during the 460 Series for the assorted brands of Old Mill (BBS), Polar Bear, Tolstoi and red Hindu included subjects from group 3 as well. This is confirmed by the inclusion of Red Kleinow (Boston) and Frank Smith (Chicago & Boston) as their team changes were made after the conclusion of the 350 Series, therefore the updated variations were printed only during the 460 Series. Lastly, the two assorted-back brands of Uzit and Lenox were included for the first time in the set during the 460 Series.

Sovereign 350 - Apple Green

During the production of groups 1 and 2, the Sovereign 350 back was printed in a forest green color. The later printing of group 3 with the same back was printed in an apple green color. This subtle color change clearly defines which subjects are in group 2 and which are in group 3. Only three of the group 3 subjects cannot be found with an apple green Sovereign 350 back. The Joe Doyle (N.Y. Nat'l) error, which was corrected prior to the Sovereign print run, and the later team changes for Red Kleinow (Boston) and Frank Smith (Chicago & Boston), which took place after the Sovereign printing.
